Oh goodness… I planned to take a short break and somehow almost 3 months passed! Well - no apologies but I’m happy to be writing here again! Thanks to my dear friend Kelli for inspiring me to sit down and write out my thoughts (even when they feel boring).
Here we go!
Watching: The Great Pottery Throwdown (HBO Max). If you love GBBO - this is just as good. There is something so satisfying about seeing people who are really good at what they do take on really challenging tasks with such creativity.
Listening: I haven’t gone down the rabbit hole of a true-crime podcast in a while, but Season 1 of The Opportunist podcast (Sherry Shriner episodes) is just incredible. Plus, when people show up at your next City Council meeting talking about how the Covid vaccine is going to turn people into human-robot hybrids and destroy the human race (yes that really happened) then this podcast really helps you understand how people get drawn into these bizarre beliefs.
Reading: Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer (I’m really savoring this one… it’s so good) and The Moment of Lift by Melinda Gates.
Cooking: I am mostly back to working in the office full time and my kids are mostly back to normal with their school and after-school activities, but I haven’t managed to arrange a regular babysitter/chauffeur to help me with the after-school transportation, so… I’ve been feeling a wee bit stressed. I splurged on a few weeks of Hello Fresh and it’s been so nice to have meal planning and shopping taken care of, at least partially. I think our favorite meal so far has been the bahn-mi-style beef tacos.
Crafting: I am the world’s slowest knitter but I like to have a project on the needles. I recently started a new pattern from Nancy Bush’s excellent Knitting Vintage Socks book in sparkly purple yarn. Fun!
Planning: Babe the Big Blue Ox the teardrop trailer is almost ready for its maiden camping voyage! Follow along on instagram. We are hoping to do several test run camping trips before our big national park trip this summer. Here’s a photo of the trailer-in-progress.
What’s up with you??? I’d love to hear.
