It’s almost spring…it’s almost spring… it’s almost spring
(I probably just jinxed myself to 6 more weeks of winter!)
❤️ February Notes ❤️
After a January that seemed to go on forever, I really enjoyed short & sweet February!
We started the month with the excitement of cheering on the Chiefs to a Super Bowl win!
I made the down payment to the orthodontist for my older son’s braces… this is really happening! He will get them put on in early April.
We had a great visit back to my hometown in northern Missouri to celebrate my mom’s birthday.
The middle school archery season wrapped up - J scored his highest score ever! 224 out of 300. He still is solidly middle-of-the pack, but it was exciting to see him improve over the course of the season.
One of the highlights of the month was watching a local production of The Color Purple - the talent of the actors was just incredible.
Currently enjoying
Honestly, I’ve been feeling pretty bored/boring lately. I am still knitting like a madwoman and reading a lot. It feels like that’s it, other than work, getting my kids to school and sports, and trying to exercise occasionally!
This is very silly but I’ve found a lot of joy lately in finding fun seasonal/limited edition items for my kids at the grocery store. Recent hits have included Trix Minis (inspired by Roll for Cereal on TikTok) and St. Patrick’s themed ice cream cones. ALDI for the win!
Book of the Month
February was another big reading month! ← follow me on GoodReads!
Two of the four books I read were audiobooks, though, which really just meant my podcast listening time was replaced by books. It’s hard to pick a favorite because they were so different - two memoirs, a non-fiction true crime/history, and a chick lit book that managed to sneak in a fair amount of history, too! I think the one I talked about the most afterwards was Under the Banner of Heaven: A Story of Violent Faith by Jon Krakauer. It tells the true story of a religiously-motivated double homicide by a Mormon fundamentalist in the 1980s and a history of the Mormon faith. Growing up in Missouri (home of the RLDS church and the Mormon Garden of Eden), I knew bits and pieces of this history but I learned a lot!
