Hi friends. I am trying to figure out how to navigate the social media waters of our strange current moment, but I do love to share things that are making me happy with friends, so I’m going to try a short and sweet weekly newsletter - we’ll see how it goes!
What I’ve been up to
A weekend getaway to Mt. Nebo State Park in Arkansas with some girlfriends. Hiking in the winter is usually pretty awesome where I live - cooler weather, no bugs, great views because all the leaves are on the ground. But every once in a while it gets really cold and you just have to stay inside and hibernate. This weekend was definitely a cold one, but we managed to get out to explore the Alum Cove natural bridge and hike a loop around the top of Mt. Nebo.
What I’ve been reading
The American Queen, by Vanessa Miller. My mom got this book for me for Christmas, which is kinda funny because the Queen in the story has the same name as my mom! This is historical fiction based on a group of formerly enslaved people who left Alabama after Emancipation and purchased land in the Carolinas to set up a community. The husband and wife who led them were appointed King and Queen of the community, Happy Land, by the people who lived there. You’ll have to read the book to find out what happened!
What I’ve been watching/listening to
High Potential on ABC. This show is so smart and funny. The main character is the cleaning lady at the police station and ends up being a genius at observing small details and knowing random facts that help her solve crimes.
What I’m looking forward to
Warmer weather. Longer days. Is it spring yet?
Drop me a note in the comments and tell me a fun fact about yourself.
I’m watching High Potential right now!! Really loving it!!
I wish the show you are watching were a book bc I don’t watch anything that’s not on streaming but I’d love to read that book 🤣
